I find it difficult to know where to start with this blog. I can't write fiction anymore and when I read it, it's purely as a form of escapism but where can a Palestinian child escape to? This blog is written in the aftermath of Glastonbury June 2025
No calls for investigations of hate crimes for what the IDF continue to commit without restraint, without condemnation from the so-called democracies of USA/UK/Europe. Who will investigate the hate crimes of the IDF? We know the answer is nobody.
I am sad that musicians like Billy Bragg cannot stand firm on the issue of what Bob Vylan said and instead mutter something like he probably crossed the line. But what is that line Billy? What about all the lines that had to be crossed to stand firm for the Diggers, the Suffragettes, the list is long and you have written songs a plenty about them. Then we have that so sincere Secretary of State for Culture, Lisa Nandy who stands up in Parliament and condemns the BBC for not pulling the plug on the Vylan set and that what he said amounted to hate speech and anti-semitism. If that was so then there were thousands of people in the audience who were also anti-semitic.
Why is there so much cowardice and fear in the UK? How does telling the truth no matter what the consequences, compare with what, on a daily basis, is experienced by the Palestinian people?
And those balaclava wearing settlers in the West Bank, burning and blowing up the cars of Palestinians? Who will fight for justice there? What is that if not hate crime?
So a message to you Billy, in your own words: Which side are you on boy, which side are you on?
